The perfect day trip to Neive

For us, a visit to the old village of Neive is the ideal way to spend a day trip - beautiful historical buildings, various restaurants and trattorias to enjoy a lovely lunch, and small artisan shops and galleries for a little gift shopping.

Let us recommend these different activities:

  • Historic Center: Begin the day by wandering through Neive's historic center, characterized by cobblestone streets, medieval architecture, and picturesque squares. Explore the narrow alleys and discover the well-preserved buildings that showcase the village's rich history.
  • Wine Tasting: Neive is renowned for its wine production, particularly Barbaresco wine. Encourage your guests to visit local wineries for a wine tasting experience. They can savor the unique flavors of the region and perhaps even bring back a bottle as a souvenir.
  • Gastronomic Delights: Neive boasts excellent restaurants and trattorias offering traditional Piedmontese cuisine. You should indulge in local specialties such as truffles, handmade pasta, and regional cheeses.
  • Cultural Sites: Visit historical landmarks like the Church of San Pietro and the Clock Tower. These sites provide insights into Neive's cultural and architectural heritage.
  • Artisan Shops: Neive is home to several artisan shops, where you will find  handmade crafts, local artwork, and traditional products. Exploring these shops adds a personal touch to the day.
  • Neive - Charm, wine, and a view ad lib!
Neive, a medieval village that will definitely charm you with its cobblestone streets, historic architecture, and renowned vineyards.
Getting there - by car or bike?

Regarding the distance and travel time from the villa, we recommend these 2 options of transportation:

    • By car: The distance by car can vary based on the specific route, but it's approximately 16-18 km and may take around 30 minutes depending on traffic and road conditions.
    • By bike: Biking to Neive offers a scenic and leisurely alternative. The distance by bike is also around 15 - 18 kilometers depending on the route, and the travel time might be approximately 1 hour - 1,5 hour based on the speed and fitness level of the cyclists. If you are in a great shape, fit condition and enjoy climbing the hills, you can go on racing or gravel bike. Otherwise, we recommend renting e-bikes in the town of Canelli.

    A few facts about Neive:
    • The town of Neive is situated within the Province of Cuneo and has a population of around 3,500 residents.
    • The Langhe, Roero, and Monferrato regions, including Neive, have been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for their outstanding cultural and natural significance.
    • The region around Neive is famous for its truffles, and the village comes to life during the truffle season. Truffle enthusiasts often visit Neive to experience the local truffle festivals and markets.
    • The local market in Neive is held on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the lower part of the town, in Piazza Garibaldi, next to the train station.
